Default Saph Headlamp Upgrades

I've just been out in the cossie, and it's safe to say that my headlamps are totally pants They barely even illuminate the road immediately in front of the car.

I've got the standard bulbs in place and have 13.7V at the connectors with the engine running...

What wattage can I safely uprate the bulbs to?

I'm thinking get the biggest high beams I can, and a bit more wattage on the dips too - any suggestions?

I can't run to Morrettes or HiD setups either

Neil.

mate i had the gold box batts from halfords,,,, the non road legal ones and they was wicked it first then they got a little pants

turns out they burn the silver covering on the reflector and made em worse

buy a new set of lamps,,,, gonna have to be pattern ones though and use the back section of you lamp though to fit your grill back on and you will have mint lights again

HID is the only real way to get decent lights as the sierra ones are pants anyway

new pattern ones first though

You mean actual new headlamp units, or new bulbs?

Right, update

Been to good old Alfreds - the Xenon ones are BOGOF at the moment, so scored some replacements. I also got some 100W main beam bulbs on the basis that they won't be on long enough to scorch the reflectors and I won't get tugged for having too bright lights as they're only on when there's nobody else about

It's a pretty big improvement - the weather up here is total shit at the moment, I really couldn't see a thing earlier!

I'm on the hunt for some brand spanker headlamp units as well but they must be the Carello ones!

Cheers!

Neil.
