Default £100!!!!!!!!!! You have got to be joking?

I have recently (*today) bought some -40mm pre cut g-max springs for my escort and wanted to get them fitted and guess what they said (hint - its in the title)

£100!!!!!!!!!

I paid just short of £100 for them (and im poor so I couldnt afford the fancy shocks and stuff!)

Does this sound reasonable for fitting? His arguement was £25 per wheel, but I thought the back ones were easy to do?

i think thats a good price, most garages would charge around £50 + vat per hour & would quote around 3 hours to do 4 springs.

If you can mate return the springs. Having dealth with several G-Max suspension kit's I would not fit any of their products to a wheelie bin.

Spend an extra couple of quid and get some SPAX, Eibach or.... well pretty much anything else.

As for the fitting £100 sounds pretty fair I would say. Don't forget to allow some extra pennies to get the alignment checked after you've had the springs fitted

er....oh shit. Its just springs though not a kit. Was supposed to be getting SPAX ones but motorserv rang back after I ordered them. They said they dont deal with SPAX anymore and can only get G-MAX.

Sounds like a fair proce to me. Make sure you get the tracking done - they'll probably want more ££ for that, but it will be worth it because it will handle/grip better and it wont shag the front tyres

Honestly mate send them back. I've seen with my own eyes and know of many problems people have had. I'd put them in a wheelie bin but not on one.

Source the SPAX ones from an alternative source if this supplier can't get them even if it costs an extra few quid.

Better safe than sorry

Cheers,

Yeah I suppose, I dont really know what to do now, dunno if I can just send them back, they ordered them in and everything. I do like the idea of a wheelie bin with springs though...........

See what they say mate can't do more than that but I certainly wouldn't recomend fitting them to your car if their springs are as piss poor as their shocks

I actually found Gmax springs to be okay, i had them fitted on an old car of mine and they were fine. Just fit them and make your own mind up, it'll be fine.
Everyones got their own experiences with different companys/ products. If there's a problem with them you can always send them back then

Aye. Max of 2 hours work including a cup of tea And a ciggie if you're a smoker.

For comparison I completely stripped the suspension and brakes off my fiesta in 20 minutes

On my old Polo, after spending alot of time screwing around with different spring rates on the coilovers, I had it down to 15 minutes a side.
