if you use ANY metal gasket (WRC or Cometic), then you WILL have to have the head and the block face machined so that they are 100% flat.

the fibirous gasket (group a) will help "mask" any imperfections in the head or the block face, but a metal one cannot.

how much boost do you run and are you sure the gasket was fitted correctly the first time, as i ran a standard YBP head gasket for over a year with no problems at all, at 20psi on a T34.

i'd never reused a gasket.

when its been torqued down it does squash, therefore no matter what gasket it is, it will not be the shape it needs to be.

if you blow a metal gasket, your block or your head has an imperfection on its face.

..with all metal gaskets you should use wrc long stud or at the very least a arp stud/nut kit...you require a greater clamp.

My 600bhp lump runs WRC long stud and cometic gasket

My DIY engine runs WRC long stud and WRC gasket (500bhp)

My runaround runs a Grp A and wire rung block (350bhp)

Fuck coopers rings right off
