Brown is thermo time switch to control the cold start injector.
Yellow is the coolant temp sensor
Blue is the cold start injector
Black is the auxilliary air valve.

i am well aware of the colour coding aspect i didnt plug the yellow to brown, the car is a bit of a dog and im slowly getting it to run better for my workmate, the guy he got it off had tampered with the meteringhead and the cold start valve had the black connector attached, this car has temp sender(green) in correct place, aux air valve(black) now in correct place and cold start(blue) in correct place, then there is tts valve(brown) with a yellow plug, there is no yellow senders nor is there brown plugs??? when you unplug the yellow from the brown the car runs like there is no boost?? rs manual i have for my s1 does not have a yellow?? so either some bawbag has minced up wiring somewhere or there is a yellow sensor wi a brown plug. any one know what happens when you disconnect the thermo time switch. cheers

Just one thing:

A green plug on a S1???? The green sensor is a knock sensor only found on S2's.

All series 1's had the yellow plug for the CTS to start with, its common to brake over time, and could of been repaced with a different colour plug......

The CTS in under the manifold in the same area as the thermo time switch.

There should be no green plug and there should also be a brown for the thermo time switch.

Can you get any photos of the area and can you see if there is any wiring which has been cut back and taped up (possibly for the brown thermo time switch). Check that the green plug hasn't been peiced onto the wiring for the thermo time switch. Someone might have been bodging!!

DITTO

Baring in mind the yellow CTS is the hardest to get to as the plug is tucked right up under in the bottom side of the injector sandwich plate.

its a s2 im talking about???? also gen ford manual states: temperature sensor is green, thermo time switch is brown, now im totally lost, its time for a box of matches i think.

so what is the yellow plug for on a s2? mabye there has been mix matching between s1 and s2s here, what would the simtons be for thermo time switch not working?? or the cold start?? car will start 1st thing in the morn and run for 15 to 20 seconds then cut out, that makes me think the cold start may be working but tts may not.

Absolutely DEFINATELY 100%, S1 or S2, the colours are:

CTS = Yellow
Thermo Time Switch = Brown
Cold start Injector = Blue
Auxiliary Air Device = Black

Knock Sensor = Green (S2 only)
2nd CTS = White (same shape as the fan sender) (S2 only)

If you're really having problems you may have to resort to tracing wire colours and continuity testing

Ive modded the diagram to show where the brown sensor should be (Thermo Time Switch), and the CTS is Yellow and in the correct place.

Anything other than how its pictured, is WRONG
