i have a mk3 A-plate, came with 1.3 cvh 4-speed, i have put the 1.9 cvh with mk3 xr3i box in it, but cant seem 2 find gearlinkage that will fit the car to work the 5-speed, got mk4 gearlinkage but wont fit, dont have the holes in the tunnel, instead it has a cradle that holds it up from underneath. Any clues what mk3 has the gearlinkage i need??

You need an early MK3 one, a Y-reg XR3i with a 5 speed box or even an RS1600i will have the one your after.

Ive got a Y reg 3i and that has a five speed linkage in a cradle like you say.

I think a later one will fit but you will have to drill the four holes in the tunnel and bolt it up that way.

Cheers bud, got told to just drill holes in the tunnel, but id rather get the rite thing, i have a S1 and its the same as mk4, well if u here any 1 with the proper gearlinkage giv us a shout!!

What puma? would it be better than the proper cradle type?

 

The cradle is shite

Just use some decent studs with a puma linkage as the linkage has a rubber mount. You will see what i mean when you look at one.
