Default For a cheapish runner whats a XR4x4 like?

Best runabout i have EVER owned was the grey sierra GLS i owned last year. Was comfy, drove lovelly for an old car and was solid..doors shut solid etc..

So im kinda thinking about another. A XR4x4 has come up on ebay in my town. May go look but what are they like? As in, power etc?

2.9 one or 2.8.

suppose they will be ok, not that much power but will be good to take on the track now and again.

XR 4x4 is a good car, it would be better spending your money on the 2.9 version. Ford lied about the power of the 2.8 even though it is meant to be the same as the 2.9. I drive one when it's cold or raining

will be out next year with 24V power, when I pull my finger out that is!

It is a weird kind of win/win situation you get better mpg, at least another 45 bhp and no rattley tappets. I fitted one to my last 4x4 and there is no point wasting cash on a 12 valve engine if you want more speed when these are so cheap now.

Avoid the 2.0, it's ok, good on fuel and does the job, but they like head gaskets..

Never driven a v6, personally i'd rather a glsi for the wolf in sheeps clothing effect. Although the lack of toys would piss me off.

24v is the best option, they're always on ebay with a few minor niggles for under £1500.
