Default Heated front screen 4x4 saff

As it getting cold now i need to sort the front screen out on my other halfs saff, the switch is new(the little orange light does NOT come on when pressed ) the heated mirrors work ok when you push the switch but the front screen dont work atall ,and its a new screen???? So where do i look 1st to try and sort this out??? Any help anyone ???????



Oh the old screen did not work either I know this is in the wrong section but not many people looks in the tech info!!

check the relay and fuse for teh screen mate

located nxt to the ecu behind the glovebox

its the black realy you want to find

Il have alook m8,i thought the fuses were under the bonnet next to the inner wing drivers side?????????

possibly be a fuse in there aswell

but the main relay is nxt to teh ecu with the abs and fuel pump relays

Just been outside to have alook, can see 3 black plugs, think its a pink/red one millions of wires with fuses at the ends, all the fuses are ok !!!And all the plugs are connected

the heated rear mirrors work off the heated rear window switch not the front one, are you pressing the right button?

Yes m8 ive just been out and done that, the mirrors and rear window work fine!!! Its just the windscreen that dont work

is the engine running as it has to be for the front screen to work

need to look for the black relay mate

the wire colours are black/purple trace and brown i think

when you see the black/purple thats the realy for the screen

you need the engine running for the screen to work
it's normally a problem with the screen itself being fooked, but you can always test to see if there is power to it

you should also possibly have heated washer jets too, so see if these are ok as well

There are two relays for the front screen,one is now obsolete,i was lucky that the one fords had in stock was the one i needed,i had the same symptoms as you so fingers crossed you'll get it fixed m8.

are the wires (that go to the battery terminal) connected their at the bottom of the screen run along the bulk head?

One other thing make sure you have positive and negative at your switch.

Should be able to hear the relay click when you press switch

As above though,check you have got power to the switch first

Thanks for all the replys to this prob, i cant hear no clicking and tbh i didnt have the engine running just the ignition on(didnt know this??).when she gets in i will run the car and see,i will also remove the A pilar covers and make sure the guy who done the screen connected the wires back up properly


THANKS AGAIN

If it does turn out to be the relay has anyone got one they would sell??

the wires are in the engine bay for the screen aswell not the a pillars

just lift the bonnet and you will see 2 wires nxt to the hinges with heatshrink round them

Yeah the wires are behind the battery and all connected ok, im going to try and get a new relay over the weekend as the one in the car does not click when the button is pressed !!!!

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct one please????

it's a generic relay, just get one from any scrapy you are passing by and it'll fit

they are colour coded yellow, red, black, green, white, brown, blue etc etc so just dig ont out of a few fuse boxes
