Default mfi bods help please....looks to be fuelling

right here we go.

Rebuilt engine, now getting spark because I got the stupid immobiliser cut out.

I've got fuel as far as the filter at quite a pressure.

Fuel pump replay works, can feel it clicking. However pump doesnt make that drone for a second like it used to.

I've changed the mfi unit for a supposedly working one but no joy.

I've connected stuff up as far as I can see

Has anyone got any ideas, please I'm desperate and need to get to uni.

just put one of the yellow relays under the bonnet in instead of the fuel pump relay mate that will make the pump run continuously, just to see if it starts mind lol, just cos the relay is clicking doesnt mean its working, does the pump run when you turn the car over?

I had a similar problem with my frst which turned out to be an earth lead not connected to the battery, worth a look.

ok, update any people.
Compression is 130-140 in all cylinders(just a cheapo halfords one used)

car starts (if im lucky)but I have to push the flap on the metering unit down if i stand any chance of getting it to go. bumping it gets it going though.

I have to hold the throttle on or it stalls

runs like a bag of shit. misfire. Ive got good working lifters in there.

unplugged the actuator rod for the mo to make it easier to turn over. been told it could be the fuel ecu as when i unplugged it, car ran the same??
does this help any bods out there?

any assistance needed as parents on my back and credit cards all maxed, so cant take it to a specialist. would be most appreciated

thankyou

Ive got a metering unit off a car with a 5th injector running big power. Can I adjust it so the fuelling isnt so much as it might be overfuelling like foook

Default attention mfi experts

the starter motor is cranking it over.
there is spark from the plugs.
there is fuel coming out of the inectors when i turn the ignition(took them out of the plate)
but it wont fire
timing is fine
ive changed the metering unit although understand this could still be at fault. should I swap the cold start over from my other inlet which worked and see if this helps or will it make no difference if it isnt firing after lots of attemts(must have been enough fuel there)

and help from mfi experts would be welcome as the car is at home while im at uni and i have no transport and trains suck

Sounds like similar problem i had, possible air lock in the fuel system ?

Start the car with the fuel pump relay bridged, ignition on, hold the metering flap down and start it up.....let it run for a while, and clear itself, once its been running ok, turn off....connect fuel relay back up as normal....and then try again with just the ignition and leave everything else....worked for me....

Only problem was 10 mins later my fuel pump died and now i need a new one lol

cheers michael g
I took the mfi off when i took the engine out and put another one back in so this sounds fairly logical.
will give this a go at the weekend when im back home!!
and cheers for the cab idea but uni is 70 miles from home and i dont know many brighton cabs that have enough room for all my stuff and im too young to hire a van lol.
