Default 3dr cosworth reliability.

myself and a mate of mine rebuilt my engine in feb of 2004 and this time i decided to have it live mapped on greys at msd instead of the usual this chip will do and we,ll see how long it lasts this time.

anyhow i left it with stu for a week during which time he mapped the car and sorted a few problems out that i didnt know i had. it turns out that it was the best move i have ever done in 11 yrs of owning the car.

in the preceeding 2 1/2 yrs since i have just realised i have not had to do anything at all with it apart from change the oil regularly and the plugs at the same time. i have never had this before and i can only put it down to the car being set up and mapped properly in the first place.

the point is, cosworths can be very reliable if they are looked after. which i think makes a pleasant change from hearing about how crap they are, not reliable, allways broke etc. so thanks stu, looks like you did a good job.

You know in the year that I owned my 3dr I used it just about everyday with out fault. I did have a couple days that I was stumped on but changed plugs/leads then put on the old ones on again and it was fine LOL. I also drove my cossie in the snow.. not the pussy 1/2 inch snow you guys get there and the world stops FPMSL... I'm talking about SNOW! LOL

A nice topic to read Ian, in all honesty, i seem to hear this from pretty much all my Closed loop conversion customers. They ARE more reliable than normal cossies as the ecu now has teh ability to worka round a lot of the small gremlins most cosworths suffer from.

A carefully applied dose of artificial intelligence sure helps these antiques run better for longer.

Well pleased your still happy mate, thats the main thing to me.

The engine in my car has been prepared etc by Stu, and its never missed a beat so far...

My car should be back in with him soon to have the front crank oil seal done too.
