Default intercooler fluid reservoir snapped.

hi guys, noticed today that my intercooler fluid reservoir has snapped. its the pipe that goes straight into the intercooler. whats happened is my samco boost hose has been pushing against it and i think over time has caused it to break. the thing is i dont know how long it has been broken for. is it detrimental to the engine if the intercooler is havingno coolant?? i have ordered a new reservoir and should be getting it tomorrow. wot coolant goes in there, is it just normal antifreeze?

has any body else had this problem who has fitted samco boost hoses??
any replies all appreciated.

basicly don't drive it on boost as the charge air temps will be high and power low, the car has a charge air temp sensor which will tell the ecu if it's getting too hot so it can do something about it, retard the ignition or limit boost on most cars not sure what it does on the focus.
