Hi,
I run a club in Scotland where we train Newfoundland dogs to rescue people as a hobby but with a serious side to it. We demonstrate what we do at charity events including the RNLI, Maritime Rescue Institute and local kennels so assit them in making money to keep them going.
Now to the crunch!!!! I am looking for sponsorship from one or more companies to allow us to purchase our own inflatable dinghy ( not dinguin ) so we can train more advanced techniques and also we will not need to rely on people to lend us their boat and time as we have had to do previously. I am told I can get a Quicksilver 380 and a 5hp engine for around £1200 and I am willing to put some of my own money to the boat. I have already put money into the club myself hence asking for help.
I know it is probably cheeky but does anyone think they can or may even know of someone who can help???
All help would be massively appreciated. I am more than happy to help in advertising or have the dogs used in advertising.
Thanks in advance
Graham

The guy I got my cossie off does this - amazing stuff.
I would write to people like severn trent, the RYA and places like that.
Most large companies like this have a fund for good causes and sponsership.
You might have to send the same letter to 20 or 30 companies- but if you got 1 reply of say 250 quid its worth it.. Send em pics with stickers on the boat.
Its a very do able thing.. the charity I used to work for part funded a trip for 12 young disadvantaged kids to go Yacht sailing in Scotland doing this.. They normally managed to raise 3-4k and did it for 15 years.
I also remember Big Nige got Michelin to give him £1500 ( I think) quid to paint his car in the Michelin Pilot colours.. or somet like that. He never went through with it. but it shows what you can do.
Good luck
Jake

Hi Jake,
Thanks for your reply mate it is much appreciated. What was the guys name you bought the Cossie from, I may know him as go down that way quite a lot. I have e-mailed a couple of dog food companies an a boat company. I also work for BT and they have a pot of money as well so I am waiting to see if I can get from my work. I wonder however if it would be better to send a snail mail rather than an e-mail??
I can but try and I am willing to send a few mails to get what we need as people love to see it.

First of can I say thanks for all of your support, the more people who know what we need the more chance of us getting the help we need!!

We buy decent boats so the claws do not dig in. We also buy boats with solid floor sections rather than air decks and we cover the floor and over the sides of the boat with rubber to keep the boat in good condition. The people I train with when I go down south have either Yamaha 380s or Quicksilver 380hd boats which have not been punctured to date.

That must be really hard to get over, losing a dog at that age. Losing a dog is hard at the best of times but worse when you know they have not had the longest of lives. Fantastic dogs though. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog as well and 50% of that breed dies of Cancer yet I would not think twice about keeping the breed as they are wicked dogs too.

Out comes the paper and PC ( I aint hand writing that many) and a little detective work to find out where to send the mails.
Cheers all
