I replaced the master cylinder with one from an xr3i, 23mm
took all the brake lines from said xr3i. removed everything to do with the brakes on the rst line wise and the compensators and the abs modulators.
then literally put all the new lines in, in exactly the same way as they were on the xr3i with the modulators in the front wing on the drivers side.

ask safe chav or someone like that as i'm probably not very clear to anyone else but myself

sorry if it isnt much use but its a fairly simple swap and thats coming from someone who isnt confident!!!

Is it really worth taking the ABS out? some people told me to do it but never knew how much difference it makes?

locking brakes can be down to shit tyres(often the case) worn brakes sometimes(rears ineffective) or your suspension being nackered, you just have to feel when they are going to lock and hold it there or back off. ive only driven a few abs cars and i far prefer non abs all the way!!!!

good luck with the brake swap, i personally recommend a full swap, you can see what state your full system is in,(mine was dangerous!)

I got brand new toyos and I also got new cosowrth dics and pads. Its wierd coz nothing happens until i put my foot down half way. And they lock at the worst times. Its a bit better when I pump the brakes.

Removing the abs properly makes a massive difference to the brakes, the pedal feels much firmer and you get more feel in them.
The best way to do it is to use a non abs fluid reservoir and then remove the abs modulators which are bolted to the gearbox. Then just reconnect the pipes up correctly under the car and bleed the brakes.
