Default New Style MOT

I have my MOT in two weeks, last year they didnt have the new computer system setup so got an old style mot. I have had the ABS removed and re piped from the S2, the light still comes on when the handbrake is applied and goes off again when released, will I be ok? I've heard a couple people mention they ran into problems because of this?

you should be alright because your warning light is still working. basically when the tester enters your car's details it will tell how to check the abs system(thats if he can be bothered to read what the computer prints out) and all it tells him is to check that the light comes on and go'es off with the hanbrake

hope your rite,as ive been told, because of the lsd,the brakes cant be tested on the rollers, therefore a meter is fitted and your car is driven by the tester and an accomplice,to get a percentage reading for your stopping power, thats when they will notice the abs not functioning,

dont wanna piss on your chips like, but ive been informed by ford, and another independant station that this is the way its done, good luck!

the rollers bit, the ford garage by me has the oldy worldy rollers, hence them not doin it on them,

tho the other garage has the brand new type and informed me that they CAN do it on the rollers, but ,and its a big BUT! he says! and is sticking to the story of!," if its fitted with abs,it MUST work",
even tho i printed off the mot section on abs testing, that "moose" put up on his thread, relating to the fact that ,if the abs light works and goes out when it should, alls well, even if all or part of the abs is not fitted,in that case you must inform the owner!period.

but the cocky mech wont have it!

so i showed the copy to the ford mech, and he said ,ok if it goes out,as it should and your brakes work,as they should with the given percentages,it wont be a prob,

bang on,gona tek it to the ford garage now then. besides, theyre all interested in gettin a look at it too.

ooooo! wot a pullaver!
ps didnt order my belts either! fricken rebel>

ok ,just that the vosa tells the examiner that it has abs and it must be checked.

Yea i understand that, but as you've said, if the car no longer has ABS, how is that possible.

That tester sounds like a right nob!

Mine has been tested on the new style MOT for the last two years without a problem! [Once at Ford and once at Well Lane] and both times the efficiency was checked on the rollers.

Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................... .....................you HAVEN'T removed your ABS.......?

Thats fair do's then, i would have to agree with him, taking the belts off isn't the same end result as having it removed completely

Was plenty of rot creeping in when I saw it last! That's why I didn't want it too close to the Series 1!
