Default mondy st200 engines

had a bit of a disagreement with a used car dealer yesterday, basiclly i was talking about cougars, how i quite liked em, and he was saying theyre shit old boats. i mentioned that the v6 could easily be taken to over 200bhp with the st200 parts (cams, exhuasts, inlet, ecu) and then he went on about them being totally different engines. i argued the blocks and heads were the same from the 167bhp lumps, to the st200 200bhp lumps. he said otherwise, sayign that the internals were all different.

he also reconed theyre fragile and hes always replacing engines in st200s

can someone confirm whether the st200 lump is essentially the same bare engine with different auxilaries?

same engine, just been worked a little to get more power out of it
it's got extruded inlet manifolds etc and other bits and bobs

along the same lines as the zetec 1.8, comes in 105, 115 and 130 brake versions of essentially the same engine

and other than the problems with the water pumps having plastic impellors on them i can't recall anything else going wrong with them

There is different internals on the st200 engine aswell
as the throttle body ,induction system etc etc

the water pumps are shite and replace with a metel impellor one as original is plastic and can break internally

they are a common failure engine also ,bad for letting bearings go with oil surges , they dont like hard cornering left iirc and hard revs in second

nice lookin cars tho ,mate used to have one of the saloon limited numbers (only 300 made) he had 299 ,

They are half an Aston Martin engine, originally developed for Porsche.
