hey guys got a fucking dreaded noise intermittently whislt driving/coasting with foot on or off the clutch and its still there with the engine switched off.its the same sort of noise u get from a fooked outer cv joint on full lock but it happens in a straight line and sounds like its coming from the gearbox area,but i had a stage 1 cts lsd put in november just gone.maybe it could be the inner driveshaft joints?are they common or has anyone had a noise like this before?cheers

 

Does it change with road speed ?

How hard is the car driven ?

Have you jacked it up and checked for any play in the joints, as is those you suspect.

 

hey up mate! i have just had the same problem but i have found the fault to be the bolt had snapped on the rear gearbox mount! if i rocked the engine it seemed solid until i lifted the back and it lifted up. mine was knocking whenever i went on the throttle or round a corner or hit the smallest bump!
it could be worth a check if you haven't already!

 

yes it does change with speed but is not only noticeable at a certain speed if u know what i mean cos its intermittent.the car is driven hard and as a matter of fact it overboosted the day before this happened and the engine jerked violently 3 times.i swear i heard something fall off the car but im not sure.ive had it on the ramp and all seems fine tho i didnt check the gearbox mounts.shafts are solid.though my mate reckons the drivers side shaft is a bit egg shaped when coming off the throttle?no up and down movement in diff just in and out of the inner shafts.
