Default fiesta 1.1 coilpack

hi

proper newbie question this one lol

i helped to replace a clutch on someones car the weekend and after refitting the engine (used a crane) the car runs on three cylinders

i suspected that the HT leads may have been messed with on the coilpack, its numbered anyway but are these numbers cylinder refrence or firing order?

i tried it both ways and it still spluttered everywhere so its prob something else anyway but it would be nice to know that they are cly refrence numbers on there

regards, brian

If you have a coilpack it can not run on 3 cyl. Only 4 or 2. The numbers refered to the cylinder numbers, not the firing order.

cheers, i knew the coilpack was wasted spark so i checked the leads for resistance straight off and they were all around 28k ohm but if i pulled cyl2 HT lead off when running the engine note did not change and i didnt get a kick in the arm either

we had another fiesta (1.4 inj) sitting around so we took no2 lead from that and resistance was 18k ohm, didnt make any difference to running when fitted though

there is another issue that could well be the cause lol

the owner of the car got excited when he saw the engine in and kinda insisted on starting the car with a billycan of fuel down the carb....im have never worked with carb systems TBH but it seemed to be a hell of a lot of fuel going down there

when i saw the airbox on the top of the carb ballooning out due to the fuel being ignited i thought we might be in for one of those days lol, what part of the carb would be damaged to prevent fuel to cyl 2?

if u got the correct spark plugs in, the leads are good and its still doing it how old is the car im guessing u havent got a dizzy cap coz u got a coil pack, so do a compression test on it

also is it got an automatic choke check the wires on it if it has
