Default Recommended suppliers for Turbo's?

Hi, got the engine out of my S2 ERST at the mo and had a little look at the turbot. Had a wiggle of the shaft and was a little consirned with the amount of play in the shaft - how much is deemed as acceptable and whats deemed as fu&£ed and what else should i look for??? If it does turn out to be fubar'd who would you guys recommend me getting one from (or mine reconditioned) that isn't gunna charge me the earth? Also, is it worth me getting it upgraded at the same time? if so, to what spec?

Cheers for any advice,
Col
