Default dipstick, oil reading on a saph

are these pretty inacurate?

i changed the oil at the weekend, checked the dipstick last nite

and its well below min, only just shows a drip on the dipstick

i had used the car about 30min before i checked it, rang my mate who has a cossie 2 and he said he gets the same

it cant have used/leaked all 3.5 litres already

min on the dipstick is not 3.5 litres

just keep it topped up, always check on level ground, and make sure you push the dipstick RIGHT into its tube.

the difference between min and max is about a litre i think

Make sure that the level is checked on a cold engine aswell - you'd be surprised at just how much oil sits in the castings on the head and doesn't fully drain back to the sump

it does take a while for the oil to drain back to the sump, but tbh, id expect at least a half level reading after half an hour!

Definitely leave it off for as long as possible before checking the level.
