basically the car has been stood for 7mths without moving, and just trying to get it sorted before it goes for MOT next week, and theres a bloody huuuuge puddle in passenger side footwell, which im presuming is the heater matrix fooked, what i want to know is-

1. how hard is it to locate and remove/ replace

2. is it worth blanking it off til i get chance to change it cos i really need to get it MOT'd

cant believe its gone after all this bloody time, frigging heap of junk

I would check the scuttle drains before condeming the matrix as there often get blocked and overflow into the car on alot of vw's.

 

Is it a mk2 Golf GTI?

Mine is dead as of yesterday But when i bought it two weeks back i blew the heater matrix within half hour of owning it with a bit spirited driving.

Aperently there was a re call on the matrix as they where known to blow easily . The shit ones have two pipes going in and the revised one has three, so ive been told.

I just looped mine out and carried on driving. Was fine and temp was normal for the two weeks i drove it. So id just do that if i was you. I bought a flexi universal pipe from Halfords to loop it.

yeah its a mk2, ive just been onto dealers as they were recalled for them but it had the work done in 1995 typically

think ill just blank it off cos really aint into the idea of removing the dash, and im selling it anyway so hopefully i wont be driving it for too long

gonna check the scuttle drain now but defo looks like heater matrix cos nothing else bar carpet is wet
