Guys, have moved to a new company and as a result am on a 6 month contract then perm. I am being paid by the hour and they mentioned setting up an umbrella company??

my hourly rate is pretty good so I will be stung if I go PAYE

can anyone give me a laymens term run down of what they do and wether it will be worth it

also any decent ones to contact?

my guy has one for example and they charge £25 a week ?

Looked into these mate and going it alone!!!! I believe Cola uses a very good company though but not sure if they will take on someone for only a 6 month period.

Where you at now? I'm contracting at Standard Chartered Bank.

I was with Parasol for four months and I thought they were pretty good.

Parasol was £29 a week I think but some weeks I used to take home 95+% of my gross wages.

It's all to do on how long you're out of the house for and what expenses you incur.

Through a conventional umbrella company you will lose about 35% or so.


Cola gets paid off shore i believe, presumabley into some sort of trust fund?


A mate of mine has just taken a contract with a bank in luxemburg and this is the norm over there.
