Default F#$#%ckin fuse box

This weekend I go out to move the car and it won't start. I listen for the fuel pump and it's not coming on. I know it's not bad because I just changed it less than a month ago. So I break out the multi meter do some test and narrow it down to the fuse box. So in I go. I find the solder joint that has boken and solder it back up. I put the fuse box back in and it fires right up. After a few seconds of feeling proud of myself I notice that my lights are on. I go to turn them off and the switch is off. I also notice my engine fans are on which shouldn't be because I just started it up. So I shut it down and they all go off. I turn the key forward to the last click and sure enough they come on again. I think to myself maybe I put to much solder in and it's touching somewhere. So back in I go and test between the points that I soldered and the points that operate the fans and the lights. No connectivity. F@#$ me I've got a short. I tried tracing all the wires and didn't find a single thing. Has anyone had this kind of a problem before? Also, will a fuse box out of a normal Escort work in a Cossy? Sorry for the essay I'm proper pissed off!!!

Is it the same as any escort?

No - but some others do fit - look for one with ABS and Electric windows as a starting point...

I would resolder it but it's double layered so if it's f@#cked in between the layers there is no way of getting in there to fix it.

Thanks St3V3 C I'll start looking.

I've done all the joints that I could reach but I'm wondering if the circut strips in between have come lose and started touching between the two. It's weird because I can take the fuse out for the fans and they stay on, but for the lights if I take out the fuses they go out. Has anyone had their temp switch short out and cause something like this. Usually with a short if you wiggle the wires around the short will open and close letting you know about where its at but I wiggled the shit out of the wires and they never went off. BTW the guy living next to me saw the car shaking and he thought I was stuck under it or something and came over to help out I think it's got to be a component
