i don't like them either.

i think all cars should have a big spike coming out of the middle of the steering wheel - you'd slow down a bit then

The airbags went off in my Ibiza recently when I clipped a kerb. hardly even touched it as well. Apparently its a common thing in VAG cars

Phil your a plank, you dont know your cars got an Airbag until you hit something and it goes off.

The air bag should only go off when the speed is over 13mph and a crash sensor in the front bumper / front area is crushed i.e you hit something and a G loading is over a pre set value

So theres very very little danger of one going off unless you have crashed, and even then hey dont always deploy

theres a guy whoc alled me at work the other day asking for a new airbag,,,,,,,, 3 of em infact belive it or not and he said he just brished the curb

he then called back 5 hours later for a new wheel, suspention leg, drop link for the o/s front

he then mentioned he " brushed" the curb at 40ish mph

not as bad as the bloke who got towed in a few days ago though,,,,he curbed his wheel,,,,,,,, ripped the tyre, TOTALLY FOLDED the wheel and its S shaped now,,,,,, happened at 2am

wonder if he was a drink driver ???

Not in a VAG car. The bags go off if the sensors detec a sudden deceleration i.e. one wheel hitting a pot hole will set it off.
