I just watched it... One of the saddest films I have ever seen
I'm not one to usually get emotional with films, etc... But this, in places, had me on the verge of tears
I had a lump in my throat for 95% of it, and I think it's the fact that it's a factual film, of an event that was very recent, that makes it all the more "real"....
Definetely(sp) one of the saddest films I have ever seen

Right, just realised - there are three of these films....
I just watched "Flight 93" which is a made for US TV film that is available on DVD over here currently...
There is another film of the almost the same title "The Untold Story of Flight 93" which is due for release on DVD over here on September 4th
And the one that was/is in the cinema, "United 93"....
I saw the first one....

Reading thw writes up for it on Wikipedia, it seems as both are very accurate (as the write up for Unite 93 tells of many many things the same as in Flight 93) but the two main differences are, I belive, that Unite 93 is set in real time : as in the entire movie is exactly the same length of time as the take off to crash landing of the actual flight. This means tho that the films ends just before the plane crash lands (as it is all based in as much fact as possible, there's no real telling what happened at the point of impact), and also it deals with the passengers as a group, rather than focussing on individuals, as per the families wishes when consent was given to the film.
Flight 93 finshes AFTER the crash landing, tho you never see it actually crash, you see the indication it crashed, and the reactions of firefighters and the families to the crash. The film bases it self heavily on certain passengers and official people, and uses real dialogue from the film, and in some cases, what sounds like actual recordings of voices.
I've not seen United 93 yet, and probably won't do now untill October as I think it's out of the cinema now.....

Why bizarre? I wouldn't be surprised if the same calls were in the same movie as both movies are about the same thing and both used factual evidence rather than fiction...
yeah was sad, saw it in the cinema and a lot of people were that i imagine lost somebody as it was a bizarre audience. we had a couple of old women sat next to us in tears from beginning to end, was a bit much to be honest!!

I have united 93 on dvd, very good.
most emotionall bit for me in the film is when the american pilot offers to sacrifice himself to bring down the plane before it got to washington as he had taken off with no missiles on board. very brave thing to do/say

Not seen it but i remember the whole 9/11 thing and "Hollywood" said they were'nt gonna make anymore films with terrorists in the story and they spent a bomb remaking Spiderman because of the Twin Towers in. Then they go and make a film like this??? Are the profits going to charity?

Wait till World Trade Centre comes out, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469641/
Like you said, its a sly way of making money by calling it a "tribute"
