The bearing doesn't look like a standard car part - go to a bearing supplier for a new one (look in yellow pages for a supplier). If they can't help, it looks very similar to a bearing I bought for a friend from RS Components (including the carrier like yours). Have a look through their catalogues.

The column looks a bit like a modified mk4 escort item - the weld near the joint doesn't look standard, meaning the splined bit is from something else.

cheers I'll have a look at the RS catologue tomorrow in work and see if it comes up.

Yes the spline part has been welded onto it and isnt a std part. I think the spline bit is from peugeot 205 as thats what my car is but I was pretty sure the rest would have been ford as I have a cosworth steering rack and power steering as its running 4wd sierra cosworth suspension and drivetrain.

Thanks Muppet.

If you look in the current RS Components catalogue 3 page 3-64, the bearing looks like a NSK Flange Unit - bore sizes available are 12, 16, 20, 25, 30mm and 1/2, 3/4, 1 inches, priced at £10.29 to £13.99 (+VAT).

thanks muppet.

Cheers guys.

I have taken it to the place in Pyle now and they can overhaul it. bit pricey but I don't care as it has got to be done and this is probably the easiest fix. I have also ordered a bearing from Wyko in bridgend so hopefully I'll have both on monday and can put it back together.

Thanks muppet.
