Trying to format my phone card ( SORTED )

I put my new phones memory card into my laptop and it said it wasnt formatted ,,Would i like to format it ,,,yes ,, comes back ,,windows cannot format

Ant ideas ???

Paul what type of phone is it ?

As the phone should have its own format function .
