Default Paypal query

hi all,

I need some advice. I have just sold my car and the guy has paid me a deposit via paypal. He asked whether i would accept the remainder via paypal. Total transaction is £2k.

My worry is that i have heard of people being screwed using payapl with money being retracted. How does this work??

Want to make sure i have all the money prior to releasing the car. As most people i cant afford to lose £2k

Thanks
Smudge

There was a chap on UKFN who took payment by paypal and then it turned out to be a hacked Paypal account so it then was taken back....basicly leaving him with nothing and no car!

They managed to find the car luckily and it was sorted but to be honest I would always stick with old fashioned cash!

Allow a Paypal payment, but dont release the car until the money is transfered out into your bank, this takes around 5 working days.

Suggest the payer pays cash on collection to minimise time delay.

Problem is, paypal will take a hefty slice of your £2k in fees!

Also, he at any time can claim that £2k back as "didnt recieve the goods" etc, and no questions that £2k will be removed from your paypal, whether it's in your bank by then or not, and Paypal will persue that money!!!

Tell him nope, Cheque/Bankers draft only please....
