Right anyone got any ideas.

Here's the problem.

There's power to the headunit, but no lights on on the display.

As soon as you turn the keys, the face drops down like it does when you want to put a CD in but none of the button's work, i.e eject, as there is a CD in there.

As soon as you turn the keys off, the headunit roll's over to security mode, so there's defo power there, but thats it.

any ideas what could be wrong?

Common fault?

Just happened, no warning i.e been tempremental.

I had exactly the same on a Kenwood unit of mine.

It turned out to be the strip connection between the unit and the face that had broken.

Only cost me about Ł30 to get fixed......

 

hope so pon, as it aint a cheap kenwood

 

It's a common fault with kenwood models which are getting on a bit or are constantly open and closed. As Rich said, the flexible printed circuit...

 

I've got two!! One that was my sisters, and the one in my car!! Both bought at the same time..... No word of a lie they both went tits up within 2 weeks of each other!!

 

I've had this to but it only cost me a tenner to fix and funnily enough has just happened again

 

Can anybody just get the ribbons?? As I'm a dab hand with a screwdriver!!! (Plus I can practise on my sisters one!!! )
