Default piston ring measurement, please help

im after a strange measurement on a piston ring, i honed out my block a few weeks ago, and i tried the old piston ring back in to measure the ring gap. well i was getting 0.9mm ring gap, when haynes says it should be 0.3mm to 0.5mm. Now the rings are fooked, and the bores are measuring in tollerance after honing, so what im after is a measurement of abrand new top ring like in the pic below. then i can see how much of the ring is worn down.

now what i dont want to happen, is i go buy new rings and find out that the ring gap is to big and then there useless.

so if anyone can help, i would be very greaful.

If your bore is within tolerance, and the rings in the bores have too bigger gap, clearly they are worn.

BUY SOME NEW ONES
