why have you built a non-turbo zvh?

if the bottom end is a std N/A zetec then no you wont need to skim the head as all you are doing essentially is taking off the superior zetec head and dumping a 8v cvh in its place.

very pointless, but very simple

which HG are you using? you may need to get the head welded or the block will need some work.

be so much cheaper and easier to drop a zetec head on can i ask why you are doing it?

the reason i have done this is to have more reliability as my car is a 23 year old xr3 and cvh engines are dated and usualy high milage, the 18 bottom end came out of a 66k escort which a mate owned but didnt put any anti freeze in and cracked the head, in my line of work this conversion is quite easy as i have got all the tools. so why not! IS THIS STIIL STRANGE!

the shit 66k zetec bottom end is better than a shiter 100+k cvh botom end and the shit cvh head is better than a shitter cracked zetec head! is that easier to understand

ignore what people think, you do what you want! i built one with spare bits and it rocked! the answer to your question is yes, you will need to skim the head... quite alot iirc, something like 1.5 or 2mm on a 2.0 bottom end to get a descent CR (this is only if it uses the hemi head, not the lean burn!).

good luck with it

a hemi head has round combustion chambers, a lean burn has heart shaped ones

The head needs skimming.
