Vaux Omega MV6 - What they like ?
Hey, any one had an Omega Mv6 - i need a bit of a daily driver and seen an 03 reg ex Police driver trainer for £2200, 124000m, seems a bargain really for that, June 2007 test etc...but how do they drive tho ?

3.2 litre in late models.
26 grand new.
210bhp i think.
What the cops used to (and still do) use as persuit cars.
Quick, RWD, fun, no heavy shit to weigh it down like other models.
It is manual yes and i go to Mannheim Leeds too, but i have no wheels at the minute, i had 2 ex cop Volvos and they fly, but fancied a change and an 03 reg isn't bad is it - Climate control too which might clinch it.

Soft and Wallowy, but dont mistake that for bad handling.
And TBH that MV6s arnt that soft either!
I know the Ford idea of better handling is adjusters set to hardest and "slammed as fuck bruv", but that dont make for good handling and grip, if anything it makes em worse than on stock susp, even if it feels more stable, until it goes, which us often sooner.
The RWD Vauxhalls are one of the few RWD motors that still oversteer as standard rather than understeer unless your gassing the fuck outa it.
Very controllable and fun, just soft.
Consumptions not bad, 25-30mpg on m-way even at 120odd.
Its at ex police car centre in Hyde, Manchester. Check the link, bt don't gaz ump u twats lol...

I really like 'em but everyone i know slates them big time which puts me off.
i've never been in a 3.0 thoguh so don't know what they're like but the 2.5 really isn't anything special.
The only thing that would put me off that is no leather and it's white.
There was a older P plate iirc green mv6 ex-police on migweb iirc? a few weeks ago and i think that was about the £700 mark, now thats a bargin imho.

I dont do 5000 miles a year, so do i spend £5000 on a 15 yr old Saff to break down, or £2000 on a 3 yr old car with all the toys and the all important Aircon. Yea yea i know a SAFF.
Leaking exhaust mannifold gaskets, total bitch to do and will probably require removal of the head as the studs always snap.
Ht leads, nasty job to do but expensive esp. for vauxhall parts.
Exhausts, very expensive over £200 for a pattern one down-pipes back excluding fitting.
urm, thats all i can think of off the top of my head atm!

Id get a 2.5 Diesel one for a daily.
They use the BMW engine and are fukin bomb prof!
Got a mate that works at a back street garage and absolutly hates anything vauxhall-V6 . . . apparently very hard to work on and complete shite.

well...
my omega had the following issues:-
cam cover leak.
i had to replace an HT lead as it got knackered by the oil attacking the rubber.
the gaskets are a pig og a job. can take 4 hours.
the ht's can be done by removing the scuttle panel.
yes parts can be expensive, but you have a cossie, so you'd be used to it lol.
i sell magnecor leads for the V6 at iirc a bit cheaper than vauxhall prices anyway lol.
i had the alernator belt tensioner fly off - they're plastic, and it was making a noise for around 1000 miles lol
the cam belt and tensioners (the tensioners are a MUST to change, as these are the weak part) need doing every 40k or 4 years. id do them earlier.
its prudent to change the water pump when doing the cam belt as they're on the same belt.
otherwise mate, i cant really fault it.
avoid the 2.5TD.. they are not bomb proof, and seem to have a penchant for doing fuel pumps around 110k miles mark, as both my brothers old one and my dads have been the same. if my dads gets below 20 litres of fuel, it takes ages to start.
they're also slow lol.
hth!!
