Default Clutch Ratchet and heater matrix on an ECos, WHAT A BITCH...

lol.....

Been meaning to do these two for a while now, but have been putting it off cos I knew what a pain in the asre it would be...

Matrix didnt appear to be leaking, but sometimes smelt a little of antifreeze when I put the blowers on, so was probably only a matter of time, Clutch rachet occasionally "clicked" too, so thought better to replace as a matter of course too...

Ford list two rachets for the ECos, picked em both up, spent a couple of hours stripping it all out, only to find the rachets werent the same as the one in there .... both new ones were longer, so I just put in the shorter one and kept my fingers crossed...

BOY was the a pain in the arse to do, as far as I could see the heater box had to come down anyway to change the rachet couldnt slide the bar out far enough with it in place..

Shouldve asked beforehand, but any tips on this job, whats the labour time for these two then... took me about 6 £cukin hours, including some alarm loom tidying behind the dash and drinking 2 cups of coffe and swearing alot and sweating my arse off pmsl

Still its all done now

LOL yeah, I changed his heater matrix for free ... I would've done the clutch pedal too, while the pedal assembly was out, if Tony had told me it was being changed

It ain't stripped out at all. This is my everyday car, fully trimmed with air-con and everything. We just happened to take part in a Subaru rally as guests (and gave them beating )

Always thought RHD is really silly idea Only advantage of RHD is that you can import JDM cars.

Is really difference in terms of clutch ratchet change so big?

Yeah I reckon so, as when you slide your bar out, it wont hit the heater box, mine slides towards the heater box, yours slides awayfrom it...

As far as I remeber you don't have to remove clutch pedal to do it. At least once we did it without removing anything apart from ratchet itself...
