Default Saw this idea about cutting speeding - what do you think?

"On the speed/safety issue, if the intention was to slow down vehicles
at accident blackspots, this could be done with traffic lights linked to
speed detectors, as in Spain.

If you exceed the posted speed, the lights turn to red and you have to stop. After you have experienced a few of these and endured the hostile glares from other drivers, you soon learn to comply with the speed limits.

There is no revenue generated by this system, so although it is 100%
effective at speed reduction, it will never be adopted in this country. This
proves cameras are not genuine safety devices, but cash-generation machines, reinforcing the view of seven in eight drivers quoted in the article."

You've stated in your post why it won't happen. NO REVENUE. In Britain you'd probably find the number of red light offences going up instead of people stopping.

I think they should cut all this speed kills bollocks and find something usefull to do. I'm sure the money could be far better spent, like for hiring somebody to bump off that cunt Livingstone

Then that will be where the revenue comes from

A. there will be no front numberplate on the 3dr when its done

and

B. why there will be no rear numberplate on the 3dr when its done

not that i condone speeding/general law breaking, but quite frankly, they can fuck off

I have written some trial software for a car radio company to interface
sat nav with engine managment systems to make a car obey virtual
speed limits.

I.E. The car knows where you are and the speed limit you should be doing
and wont let you exceed that speed under any circumstances.

Big brother IS coming to new cars sooner that you all think !

no plates on the car,, what a great idea, why not be a real criminal and register the car in another name,,, or have no insurance either and then you an be a REAL man

some of you lot make me piss my self honestly, most of ya would tell the old bill when you last went to the dentist when tuged yet make all these bold claims about what you do when your on the road

running with NO PLATES is no different from driving with no insurance cause when you run my little girl over when your doing 90mph the odd on you actually stopping to see shes ok would have the same respect as you do for the law so why bother with insurance

but im sure your all real blokes out there who have the local plod stop ya just for a chat to see how things are going these days

I think the ponit being made is that if they wanted to do somthing constructive to road safty, then this would be a much better method than cameras ..... We could even go as far as teaching people how to drive properly , now that would be a shock

The key phrase there is "to new cars"

I will quite happily continue speeding in my old sheds

They will NOT be able to force a retrofit to cars, so its fine by me as nothing made after about 1990 interests me much anyway!
