Default Nasty clicking noise from S2...

Hi there, i've got a bit of a problem with my S2, after a longish journey of about 30 - 40 miles theres a clicking noise that sounds like a noisey hydraulic tappet at idle, execpt the noise is definatly not the engine, you can only hear it from about 20mph really slowly and then up to about 80 where it's going fast, as if something is touching the driveshafts or wheels. I no it's not the engine or brakes and i've had the car in the air and there is nothing around the driveshafts or brakes or wheels. So i was wondering what it could be.... i hope it's not the gearbox but as i said it only does it after that many miles....

Any ideas and help would be great, thanks.

Had a similar prob with my old 89 S2. Clicking noise turned out to be the amal valve, i unplugged it and it stopped clicking

You'll find the amal valve on a bracket on the gear box, 3 small pipes going to it, and its brown in colour.

They don't click very loud though

Speedo cables do this when they get warm too.
