central locking help. rick, safe chav????
I have a really irrating problem. every now and again when i lock the doors the locking opens its self again as though a door is open. I have tried other motors that are known to work and the same happens. problem is that when it does do it i cant lock the car. and sometimes it a day till it starts working properly again. any ideas as to what to check?
safe chav?? you good on electrics.. any ideas?

To be perfectly honest the only thing that can make the central locking do that, are the front door mechanisms & motors, and wiring between them.
Rear doors and tailgates wont cause it. I personally would say the door looms are breaking down.....

Firstly check all the locks are free moving and not seizing up, and then check all the connections inside the door, and if possible give the terminals a tweak with a little screw driver to tighten them up.
If it is the door looms, u coudl try continuity testing but being an intermittent fault you're not guaranteed to get any results. You could just pull the rubber sections out and see if theres any broken/shorting wires inside which i bet there is.

It's the alignment usually that causes this. What you can try, is loosening the 3 torx bolts that hold the door catch in place, and adjusting it slightly. May have moved slightly. And as chav says, if the mechanism is stiff, that will cause probs.
