After being told by lots of people the series 1 rs gearbox wont fit the series 2 cradle i thought i'd have a go anyway, and found that its a straight fit, all you have to do is put 2 studs in place of the two bolts that hold the series 1 mount on, you can get these off any ford that uses the cradle and thats it.

 

Sure it fits. It's the other way round it doesn't fit, as in putting a S2 box in a S1.

 

yeh but then the pricinple is the same, just swap the studs on the series 2 for the series 1 bolts

The S1 bell housing has similar pattern for the S2 and therfore you can fit the cradle and use a S1 box in a S2 ( I have one in my S2 ) The S1 box does have additional mounting points on the front and rear of the housing which are use to mount it on the S1 as the anti roll bar and the mounting points are different.
