T34 by any chance? If so its very common and its due to a resonant frequency clash of teh front and rear wheels.
Fix is simple, Fit teh correct actuator.

That was why i wanted to see a pic,
As for best boost controll, the actuator needs to mounted as straight as posible to the wastegate, and so wen it opens it moves in the direction of where the wastegate needs to go.

very short shaft?
No its got a fairly long threaded shaft and is just a standard -34 to suite the 2wd turbo setup, as supplied by turbo technics.
Turbo damper wasnt working correctly as one of the discs was damaged and this may have not helped with vibration.
Ill go and have a look at the allignment of the actuator
Stu what do you mean about correct actuator ??

The correct actuator for the T34 is teh one shown above, and it is used for teh reasons i stated initially. Tests show that the snapping is due to a HF issue on SOME installations and it almost always shears directly where the nut is tightened up.
The long term cure was to do what garret did and extend the actuator rod so the point of the HF clash was thicker and stronger steel.

Ill take some photo's now when i take it off....
