no compression is:
either a hole in your piston ( no compression)
knackered piston rings ( very little or no compression)
bent or damged valves ( no compression)
cracked cylinder head( u would get a little compression)
cracked bore wall ( u would get a little compression)
headgasket( u would get small compression)
doubt its the plugs unless its not seated right but u would hear it pop as the pressure would be good!

Only just did a head gasket on it so i know the following:-
bottom end is all fine no prob there ran perfcet before
Head was crack tested
Brand new 3 layer cometic head gasket(but will do tests on comp, water and oil today)
Valves , dont see how I could of only bent one or two plus it started running perfect again the other day after fucked follower was found, but then went back to shit again. So thats what made me replace followers, still no difference though?????????????

it is possible to bend the valve just by having the weight of the head on it when it was on the work bench.
do a wet & dry compression test, this will tell u if the problem is with the head or not.
also did u know that both the block & head need to be perfectly flat for a cometic gasket to seal properly as the steel is not as forgiving to any distortion like the normal fibre group a gasket.
unless its a new build & u can deck the block as well as the head then use the reinz group a gasket.

I found the culpret, the valve seat had poped out
, fuck knows how and bent an inlet valve on no.2 when it hit the piston. Not to bad really just frustrating plus I got a nice dent in the piston (no crack thank god).

can happen the head has had the arse skimmed off it and it's been skimmed into the valve seat area thus making the valve seat weak
measure ya head before u refit it if it's below 138.68mm you would be well advised to replace it
