Default toughys new saff (update, ***FINISHED*** 30/08/06)

Posting this up for my brother, username "toughy" on here.

Sold his last cossie about 6 years ago and has been regreting it since.

Picked this one up for the pricely sum of £1**0

1991 H plate, totally standard, MOT'd but in need of Cyl head Gasket, water pump, various bushes and a good clean.

Plan is to replace all fuel lines, brake pipes and hoses, fit polly bushes, do Gasket, pump and timing belt / tensioner and wire brush the underside and get at least 2 tins of Waxoil on there as its never been welded and is solid

Mods will prob only be suspension, exhaust, some hoses and tanks under the bonnet and a nice clean set of facelift alloys

We will keep the post updated as we go

Couple of pics just after we got it out the road.

Hey folks, must say a big thanks to paul (rstoughy) for the help he will be giving me with the car, like he says, got rid of my last cossy a few years ago and have regretted it ever since, when i picked up the car it was a cream colour as it had been sitting about for so long but i've been giving it a t-cut tha last 2 days and must say its coming up not too bad,
needs some engine work and other bits and bobs done, will keep you updated when posssible.

Now get that wire brush out and do the underside.

Plate wasnt included in the sale folks im not that daft.

look forward to seeing another toughy motor on the go in the future

You never know, going to dump it down at my folks and stick the cover on then go back in a couple of months and see if it dose it for me. If not then its going. Whole or in bits, whichever gets the most interest.

Niki will be up tomorrow night and we will get the door changed out so that all the cutting back can get finished and we can get some polish on there.
Once my Escort has gone we will get it into the garage and get the underside and engine done

Few weeks should see it finished

OK

Small update from tonight. Removed the drivers door as it was rusted round the lock.

Replaced it with a 2nd hand one from Mr Linfoot (cheers Paul)

Next on the list is to get it inside and get all the fuel and brake lines done.

Old door

No door

New door

Ok folks just a small update,

Car has been transferred into the garage and Niki started to rub down all the crud off the bottom.

Was going fine untill a little hole was discovered on the N/S rear chassis leg (surprise surprise) on further investigation (lots of picking) it got bigger.

Decided that we would remove the N/S rear arm to allow us to repair the offending part properly so while slackening the main bolt for the beam it snapped obviously we need to remove the complete rear beam now to get the rest of the bolt out.

While this is off the car it will be the perfect time to replace all the fuel and brake pipes with ease

Cossies, dont you just love them

Pic of the O/S chassis leg

Pic of the N/S chassis leg

And a few of how we left it for the night
