Default Corrosion in the head / porus

Hi,

Is it common for cossie heads to get porus ??

As I took my head in to get some welding done to the combustion chamber and the fella said that the head was quite badly corroded in the water galleries.

He's now cleaned up the corrosion and found the head to be quite porus in some areas and thus he is having difficulty welding it.

What can be done in a situation such as this ? is there a special treatment that can be done to the head to solve this problem or is there a special way of welding it ?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Damion.

try some of these peeps who advertise brand new heads .....

woodford motorsport on www.cosworth.info or 01803 863958 they advertise it brand new and i hope u are sitting down.... at £1450

also try www.burtonpower.co.uk 020 8554 2281 they are a brilliant company just like woodfords above !!!

think if the companys supply new heads then im sure they will all be very close to same prices buddy !!

good luck

Be aware that these heads are bare - just the casting only - you will have to reuse all your valves etc and your cams wont fit as the heads are the 4x4 version, so you will need a set of these as well

Change of engine isnt an option i've spent enough on this concervion and all the work is done, the engine was running in the car, just not for very long..

I thought about trying ebay, but im afraid of being caught out with another dodgy head..
