4x4 vs. 2wd
4wd
good bits:
traction and going to donnington means you can move about in the mud
bad bits:
gearboxes are made of chocloate
2wd
good bits:
sideways for as long as you can hold it
bad bits:
old cars are looking old
up to you

it can take less then the 2wd box....only because of the traction a 4wd has...it slip less easy...

chocolate boxes they might not be, but i know plenty of people who keep breaking them, and some only put 236 brake through them

possible...im on stage 3 so 300+ and this is my 2nd box...only because of the miles...and i could get a fresh one for cheap
you can wreck everything if you drive like you stole it...also when standard...and only because of the traction a 4wd has...
if this gonna be with 2wd is will spin....
ask smith how long it took him to wreck his box...and after how much sprints...and the box transmission was shotpeened...nothing more..
so chocolate...no....weaker yes....

picked it up the next day (saturday)
went from picking it up (up by hanger lane), round the north circ, and up the M1
got to scratchwood services amd smoke everywhere because it's shat itself as it went up the hill, in 5th, at about 70 mph (ok, so i put the foot down but i was still in fifth)
so thats the one thats just crap
there was another one i broke at alconbury (i've even got the caption somewhere because it was printed in the mag
) along the lines of "this 4x4 sierra went home with just 1st and 5th gears" so it lasted a good 12 hard HARD launches up the runway, none of this softly softly, 5k and side stepping the clutch saw it run out of first gear quicker than i could snatch second i think the problem with me though is that it was a V6 twin turbo, and i was so used to driving it around on just over idle the box couldn't take it, sometimes i could catch it when it was just leting go and a new clutch and input shaft seal would solve it, but other times it was sending bits left right and centre out from underneath
it's a good strong standard power box, and it'll do a bit when it's got a bit more poke going throgh it, but you reach a certain level and then it just won't handle the power no matter how gently you try to use it, i killed on on the way to crawley when i went to show the punto GT that he couldn't keep up (still showed him even though the clutch was slipping like a crap torvil and dean
)some people though don't have a problem with them, just luck of the draw i guess
