What is the best charge cooler to go for on my RST engine and what sort of coin am i looking at paying for one. Never been this route before and know fook all about them, what they do etc.... Ive already been advised that i should ideally get a bigger pre rad (?) but fook knows what they're talking about!!

Any help would be sweet

i used to run a pace charge cooler on my sII running 16 psi ... suffered from heatsoak really badly with the standard water rad they supplied..
its worse when slow moving in traffic temps climb really high but once you get clear air it soon drops..
the water gets to a temperature where it will not cool enough to to keep the air charge low even when moving .. hence the need for more water .. and bigger rad
alot of people say avoid and get a larger intercooler .. i can remember some even having huge resevoirs of water to try and keep the temps down and bigger rads .. but changed to a better intercooler ,
alot of waffle and rambling .. but i just woke up

 

thing is intercooler is out of the question really... Im doing a rear engined conversion and i think the pipework would be a mission if an intercooler was mounted at the front. No space at the back either really....

yeah ... can see your point .. if the rad was big enough then im sure it would work .. but i do have a cunning plan up my sleve concerned with charge coolers ... just need to try the practical out first as i know the theory works ...

 

Can you not get a pace pre rad meant for the Focus RS?? They are substantially bigger.

Or get Radtech to make one to your requirement. What about Graham?

Chris, wann buy a focus rs chargecooler? all you'll need is the water resevoir and pump, the actual heat exchanger i could possibly source for you!!
