Basically ive just bought a run around for not a lot ££, and i was aware the engine was in a poor state.

Its got a 1.6 Zetec in it, and the bottom end is knocking loudly, but its smoking HEAVILY. I borrowed a compression tester but it wasn't long enough to reach down, so we just pulled the engine out. The exhaust itself and the port on number 4 is covered in oil.

My mates had the head off since ive left and said the gasket is fine and there is no scores on the bore walls.

Coolant and oil were both fine, no contamination. Anyone else got any ideas/had a similar problem?

Only on the one cylinder though???

Theres a LOT of oil, in the exhaust and everything, had it running for about 10 secs and it smoked the entre road out
