Under the inlet manifold there is a little vlave with a blue plug on it and a red fuel hose going to it. Unplug it. Leave it unplugged and your car will start fine cold

the 'cold start valve' should make NO difference to starting the car in this country 99.9% of the time it only opens when it gets REALLY cold! and i mean like -6 ish!

cold start valve needs only works when the cars REALLY fookin cold...

doubt it will even kick in during the winter over here! might aswell try it with the fooker unplugged.

do ERSTs have warm up regulators? or do they have a CTS and the electronics take care of warm up?

Cold start means starting an engine from cold....not starting the engine in the north pole

It does. Third rst ive had. EXACT same cold starting, removed the plug, starts perfect. MAY need reconnecting in winter but never did before.

I bet 90% RST owners on here have theirs unplugged

Right, i found it and took it off. Do i have to tape it up? Don't particularly like loose connections flying round my engine bay. Will start it from cold later tonight as it's hot from coming back from the dentist and we'll see if it works! Cheers for all your help guys.

Thanx for your advice hun. I'm pretty sure that it was disconnected when i bought it off Andy G but they must have put it back on when they fitted the new gearbox.

I have an NMS sticker on the back of my car so i'm assuming you guys have had a look at it at some point. Do you recognise it?
I think at some point i'm just going to have to stick it in with you guys and let you play around with it and make it run properly.

He only set it up Alan
Kim can,t remeber if it was connected or not?
To be honest it sounds as if something has broke on it
It used to start within a split second no matter what weather
With that on or off!!
Which fuel pipe had gone?
The one from the tank to the pump was replaced about 3 week befrore you bought it with a genuine one?

I know, i replaced another two after that one and the bastid still kept leaking! There was an after-market petrol cap on the car and it wasn't vented, which led to too much pressure build up and the fuel being forced out of the weakest part...the hose join. Bought a new ford petrol cap and it hasn't leaked since!!!! Stupid things eh? Just having a slight problem with it starting from cold. I am pretty sure it wasn't connected but it suddenly was after i had the gearbox done. Anyway, i've removed it and am gonna see how it fares in the morning. Got a new master cylinder too but they forgot to send me the spare blanking screws cos they're based on a standard style now.
You'll be pleased to know i've been upsetting quite a few people

I got a space on the Norfolk stand at Trax if you're gonna be there Andy? Did the flamer kit ever work? I can't get it to bloody do anything. Thinking of stripping it out.
