Not really mate, unless its VERY cheap!! Im toying with doing a similar kind of setup in my XR2. Ive got the engine location/mounts sorted/planned, just have a few other queries with regards to clutch/gearlinkage/fuel tank location etc....

Any queries about the pickup itself and the build would be best directed at Smit, as he was squints drinkin buddy, or ask smit for squints number

I sold the rolling shell incl doors/bumpers etc... for Ł250 last year, i'll have a word with the lad who bought it off me, and subsequently abandoned the project

 

Ł250 sounds cheap! Especially with the fabricating involved!!!!

ill have a word with Smit as im sure Squint doesn't want random people phoning him up about it!!

Randy - squint didn't sell the car complete it was stripped and the bits were sold. He then brought a 500bhp rwd saff. Till ended up with the shell somehow but as he has said he no-longer owns it.

i think it was a normal escort bonus , heavily modified, with a orion back end or something, was a mental car either way

 

it was a 1.3L E reg escort Bonus. Bits of an orion were used cosmetically for the shape of the boot and the rear window

 

the top lip of the roof was an orion bootlid

The shell is in amazing condition still, only problem, is sum tit's been grinding near it, and its covered in lots of tiny bits of shit

i have pics of the gear linkage somewhere chris...

it was basically a rod welded at 90 degrees out the back to bring it back forward...

not sure how it was linked to the front one.... prob pretty tricky to get them lined up and working together.

clutch, ive seen with a hydraulic cylinder mounted above the box to leave the clutch fork off.

 

Not interested in the shell dude so its your if you wanted....

The car was on the front cover of Fast Car back in 2001......

yeah will do mate. Hopefully i will get the car to MJS in the next few weeks!! Had a long chat about twin engines/rear engines and rear engined seems more feasible.

Gotta sort out hydraulic clutch etc now!!

Okay, I don't do slagging off tuners at all, but all I know is how much Pete (Gooey) paid for the work on his cossie, and what he got for his money.

 

not sure about there rep... I've seen 3 of the cars they have done (inc. that 106 with a rear mounted RST engine) and looked fine. My local fabricator has quoted me the same money as them, but seeing as they've done them before i would prefer them to do it...
