Default Snapping noise....no clutch..

ok, what the hell could this be...

I was driving home from work on Friday afternoon and as I queued in traffic, I put my foot on the clutch as there was a snapping noise and the pedal hit the floor....noooooo! Well and truely marooned in Basingstoke in rush hour blocking the road!

Any idea whats wrong with it? Clutch cable maybe?

The cossie is at some pikey recovery yard as all the local garages would have been shut. I just want an idea of what is wrong before they try and rip me off repairing it!

I have a simalar problem and i found out it was my pedal box.
It has some how got bent and is catching on a bracket when i put me foot
on the clutch to change gear and it's snapping and getting stuck at the same time.

I thought it was my cable at first but after an hour of checking it ended up as my pedal box.

Worth a try mate

Might be that - although there was a snap the the pedal was all floppy as if not connected to anything.....
