As my fiesta rst engine gave up the other day ,i am now looking for a new unit.
can anyone tell me whether there is any other car i can use the engine from, like the erst or the xr2i.

frst engine only as the xr2i ius of a diffrent compression ratio and the erst bottom end doesn't haver the crank position sensor

How did it give up as it may be fine to rebuild. Just rebuilt mine and run her in and she's good

As Oranoco says, its probably more cost effective and easier to have yours re-built, aswell as doing a few light mods for when you start upping the power

my mate has had a look at the block and says it should be ok
but the head is defo no good so i am picking one up tomorrow.
as i will have to build the head up anyway, is the piper 285t2(think thats right) any good. would i have to do any thing alse to the engine if i fitted the cam??????

I think the Kent CVH35 is meant to be the better cam compared to the 285T2.

oh i see, and its the kit i need not just the cam. is that right?
so would i need to do anything else? like a chip?

Kent CVH 34 or 35. Wouldn't use Piper's 285T2 as a paperweight

i put my engine back together and it is still no good.
i guess the block wasnt ok after all.
now i need a new one and i have to undo all the work i did putting it together

The best cam on the market at the moment for a cvh is a newman, i'm on my 3rd kent cam in 15 months - cvh34 = 500miles - cvh35 = 100ish miles and current cvh36 = 2000 miles and going strong when i contacted kent they were deeply apologetic and they offered full refunds, but as i have said at the top the newman shaft is the best and runs solid lifters.
