im getting well bored with 180 bhp
i have the following
1.6 cvh,mfi, t3
xr3i box, rs turbo clutch
bleedvalve,dv, k+n
radtec front mount intercooler
hearts an diamonds chip
scorpion exhaust
(not cammed
im looking for 220-240 bhp, i no its going to cost, an its worth parting with my money if my rst turns into a monster!
what way shall i go about it?
1.8 or 1.9 bottom end?
efi?
cammed?
or if anyone knows any company in the west mids who would carry the work out who knows what they are doing!

hybrid turbo and head work, dont forgt to port match the inlet manifold,
go for 17-18 psi with a decent cam
might ned a enrichment kit at that boost but should b fine
that will get u into the 200 bhp bracket

i got a STAGE 3 BIG VALVE HEAD WITH PIPER 285 T2 CAM KIT & VERNIER hopefully tomorrow, just wondering can i do this...... change mfi to efi an run the stage 3 head an cam on a 1.8 or 1.9 bottom end? cheers
once the head is on there, get a stage 2 or 3 turbo with .48 erxhaust housing...make sure its a NEW cam in there...change to OFAB/EFI management, get some fair sized injectors and you should hit the figure you want

I don't like upgrading the cam in a turbo because it's getting very rough to drive... Put a chip in, run higher boost, make sure that the engine can cope with the higher pressure, think about an uprated intercooler and do some work with the cylinder head. 1.8 won't be too bad
i dont hav a hybrid, alot of options 2 think about here, might jus put the stage 3 head on with the piper 285 t2 an get a rolling road then take it from there, cheers 4 the advice every 1, wil let u no how i get it on wen head is fitted
standard cam..
standard head...
hybrid turbo...
big intercooler...
lower the compression ratio...
arp big end bolts...
correctly set up on standard managment with the correct mods will see a very healthy 23 psi boost
thats all i did to my old one .. set up by madevelopments best part of 240 bhp ..

It's not great (blowing the oil cap of that is).
My 1600 CVH don't blow the cap off with 25psi.
Change the Pooper285 T2 to a Newman or Kent CVH 35 for good results.
Get on the blower to Bernie at CTS and order one of his uprated boxes and get the LSD back in it. It'll make getting the power down possible

either there is a piston problem or all your breathers are blocked up ....

Mine's only running 190 horses and it's plenty fun for me
The thing you have to realise, is that you've got an old engine in there, and pulling it apart may give you more grief then it's worth
My spec is : Mongoose exhaust, hearts and diamonds ecu, k&n, samco boost hoses, bleed valve, cts box, ap organic clutch, 18psi 190bhp 196 lbs ft tourqe. Not bad for 140k on the original standard block and MFI management

14psi ?? Fuck me, who set that up ? Most RS Turbo's with standard i/c make 170ish at 14psi, then chipped 15 - 19psi should see between 180 - 230 depending on the condition of the engine.

1.6 cvh, +0.5mm low comp Mahle Pistons
OFAB EFI SETUP,
OFAB 195 CHIP
BEIGE INJECTORS
STAGE 3 AREA SIX BIG VALVE HEAD, MULTI ANGLE VALVE SEATS,
PORT+POLISHED
MATCHED MANIFOLDS
KENT CVH CAM
KENT VERNIER
PRO ALLOY COOLER
COSSIE TURBO AND .48 HOUSING
FORGE ACTUATOR
BOSSTING AT 16PSI

Alot of RR give very high figures and to be honest I would believe them. My car has a standard bottom end, power engineering stage 3 head and cam, spec R breather system, chip running 15psi and a 4x4 cossy intercooler & custom rad. Mine was rolling roaded at power engineering at 197 bhp with something like 175lbft i think.... I have also raced a few local cars which have print outs from power engineering of 220bhp and my car pulls away from them!" no dig at power engineering intended. I think their work is spot on
just proving that RR arn't what there cracked up to be. Who cares about figures anyway
