A cam will help - urs is probably well worn. if you want more, it's time for a cylinder head.

hybrid turbo and head work, dont forgt to port match the inlet manifold,
go for 17-18 psi with a decent cam
might ned a enrichment kit at that boost but should b fine

that will get u into the 200 bhp bracket

You will need an mfi to efi adaptor plate to use the head on efi the head will fit on a 1.9 or 1.6 bottom end...

once the head is on there, get a stage 2 or 3 turbo with .48 erxhaust housing...make sure its a NEW cam in there...change to OFAB/EFI management, get some fair sized injectors and you should hit the figure you want

I wouldnt go for 1.8/1.9 bottom end. And yea, the head will make a big difference. And don't change to Fiesta management - it's toss.

I don't like upgrading the cam in a turbo because it's getting very rough to drive... Put a chip in, run higher boost, make sure that the engine can cope with the higher pressure, think about an uprated intercooler and do some work with the cylinder head. 1.8 won't be too bad

standard cam..
standard head...
hybrid turbo...
big intercooler...
lower the compression ratio...
arp big end bolts...
correctly set up on standard managment with the correct mods will see a very healthy 23 psi boost
thats all i did to my old one .. set up by madevelopments best part of 240 bhp ..

Good stuff try and get a lockable rocker cover cap as you dont want that happening on the open road.

It's not great (blowing the oil cap of that is).

My 1600 CVH don't blow the cap off with 25psi.

Change the Pooper285 T2 to a Newman or Kent CVH 35 for good results.

Get on the blower to Bernie at CTS and order one of his uprated boxes and get the LSD back in it. It'll make getting the power down possible

yes it does .. it means the crank case is getting pressurised
either there is a piston problem or all your breathers are blocked up ....

Would say 214bhp @15psi is very optimitic. Wouldn't expect anything much over a genuine 180bhp in all honesty.

Mine's only running 190 horses and it's plenty fun for me

The thing you have to realise, is that you've got an old engine in there, and pulling it apart may give you more grief then it's worth

My spec is : Mongoose exhaust, hearts and diamonds ecu, k&n, samco boost hoses, bleed valve, cts box, ap organic clutch, 18psi 190bhp 196 lbs ft tourqe. Not bad for 140k on the original standard block and MFI management

14psi ?? Fuck me, who set that up ? Most RS Turbo's with standard i/c make 170ish at 14psi, then chipped 15 - 19psi should see between 180 - 230 depending on the condition of the engine.

you would need to be running at least 18psi to get anywhere near 221 on a fairly standard engine mate! and i know peeps that have 350 bhp cossie's and they claim that there no where near as much fun as a 200+ erst!

Alot of RR give very high figures and to be honest I would believe them. My car has a standard bottom end, power engineering stage 3 head and cam, spec R breather system, chip running 15psi and a 4x4 cossy intercooler & custom rad. Mine was rolling roaded at power engineering at 197 bhp with something like 175lbft i think.... I have also raced a few local cars which have print outs from power engineering of 220bhp and my car pulls away from them!" no dig at power engineering intended. I think their work is spot on just proving that RR arn't what there cracked up to be. Who cares about figures anyway
