hi all must admit i have only been doing short trips, last week battery did not have enough grunt to start car,

so purchased charger /fully charged battery and refitted a few more short trips local car parts dealer checked out battery and charging circuit

and thought battery was a bit low,might be possible that something was draining battery ,he suspected rear boot light (which i have removed bulb)

now slightly apprehensive i might not be able to start car if something is amiss not sure how i can check the amount of charge in the battery, i have a multimeter but not sure what i set it too (ac or dc) do i disconect negative terminal ? and what should the battery voltage read,

this is so i can get some idea whether battery is holding /loosing charge

Why don't you get the battery tested. Most automotive places will test the battery for free. The battery may show a good voltage but doesn't mean its ok, its the discharge rate thats the important bit.

You can use your meter to test the current drain though to see if something is flattening the battery.
