How well would a 305bhp small turbo escort cosworth do against an FQ340?

I would of thought the FQ would murder it full stop .....

 

FQ would cane it i reckon, but it depends on the driver too.

 

..the Escort would win in the looks department though

 

Do you think it would be close? just wondering cos a guy round my way has a 340...would be a good laugh to get a wee run against him..

Firstly, small turbo (T28) Escort Cosworths are nearer to 285 BHP when chipped...........The 305 figure is optimistic to say the least!

Secondly, against an FQ340......no chance....(i.e. the Es Cos would not do very well at all)....

 

a friend of mine went in a fq340 the other week there meant to be shit hot

i dunno...at the start i didnt like the fq340 but now its kinda growing on me...its just a beast full stop...

 

the fq340 is a amzing car. great technologically.

it will win but just have a go. you never know. escort should'nt lose that badly.

i reckon against a good stg 3 2wd cossie on a rolling start i think the cossie would do it in a straight line though.

well thats my theory.

 

I'll have a go at him just for a laugh...if we did it from a standing start over a 1/4 mile you never know, he could get a really bad start and i could get a good launch...

well i saw a escort cossie with 290bhp (small turbo) doing 4,5 sec to 60.
so the evo shouldn't be much faster.

Having had my Esc Cos at 285bhp [as Doug said max you can get from a sm turbo] the FQ340 would anihilate it. That's why I had a big turbo conversion done.

 

agreed...might just have to buy a bigger turbo...what you recommend?

my mate boughht a fq300 last year and ive had a few go's in
it and to be honest i reckon there pretty crap, and no im not
just saying it , the steering is superb but the acceleration imo
is poor, v poor for a car with supposed 300bhp and costing
31k after being in both fq300 and various cossies a good stg1
saff 2wd would defo give it a good go, and a stg3 would and
has lashed it, the gearing seems to be really short and you run
out dead quick, they are good top speed but imo the reality of
driving them speed wise and the book times are a mile apart,
hes even on about selling it at a 9k loss in a year having done
5k miles and going back to a coz, now what does that
tell ya , seen a few fq340's but never seen one go yet
but cant imagine they would be 'THAT' much quicker,
dissapointing to say the least!!!
