Default Radtech intercooler or not?

is the radtech front mount intercooler worthwhile baring in mind its 335 for the kit including fans, and im a bit tight for funds at the moment. Is the pro alloy one better in peoples opinion, I can't really stretch to the grs unless i find a good one second hand

Does it really make that much difference?what's the fit like. I dont want to cut my nice 90 spec bumper up apart from taking one of the bars that goes accross to aid air flow!!

From what ive seen of the GRS ones the brackets on them are really thin and flimsey, the Radtec ones are very thick and substantial.

the brackets on mine aint thin and flimsy and you dont have to cut anything to fit it either!! if you want a cheaper compromise which wont perform as well as a GRS buy a Radtec

Have you gota cut things to fit a Radtec????

I bought a S2 one off eBay cheap and im going to put it in my MK3 so i cut the front panel out anyway. I thought they were meant to be a straight fit into S2's, but you know more im not S2 type of person

dont think so but i take it he was reffering to the GRS when talking about cutting the bumper cos for some reason a lot of people seem to think you have to when you really dont

Ah i get you I was going to say that the radtec looks like a straight fit.

Admittedly though i have only looked properly at one GRS and the brackets looked a bit shit and thin. I THINK the GRS is larger aswell, isn't it?

i had a s2 radtec intercooler fitted to my mk3 escort.once the front was cut out,and fitted s2 boost pipes and rad,it was pretty easy to squeeze in. THE BUILD quality of the radtec IS better than grs AS IVE HAD BOTH!!!!. as for performance a can honestly say i didnt notice any difference.(Im not sure about high boost though as the max i ran was 22psi). oh And MY tabs actually snapped off the grs......

sorry this is the only pic ive got with the radtec fitted:-

Default Pro alloy

I have a new pro alloy cooler with twin fans, fitted about 2 months ago, its not a 5 min job but didnt have to cut bumper, went straight in, made a big difference to car, had to turn bleed valve down cos in increased my boost, my car peaks at 16 psi & holds 14psi, on the standard cooler if you kept it on boost it would drop back to about 12 psi but with the pro alloy cooler it will hold 14 psi all day long.

Myself and Christian and Beccy use GRS intercoolers, both do 160+mph and near 2 bar of boost

We have no complaints about them

For the record, the reason why the tabs on a GRS cooler are thin is so the CAN bend to allow you to fit the cooler how you like, ie, fans on the front, or inbetween. Once the intercooler is fitted the tabs will not break.

All Evo5 intercoolers have mounting tabs made from stronger material....

I'm just trying too raise funds as my engine mishap and rusted battery tray along and tyres arent helping. was looking at specs and it seems the grs is 55% larger cpacity wise and the radtech is 50% larger and for the price difference not sure its worth the extra for me at the moment. The pace and pro alloy are £100 more than radtech jsut need the price of the grs to compare

last time i looked the GRS was £265 for the cooler and then Graham usually does the fans at a cheaper rate when your buying one give Graham a ring or drop him an email and ask!! he's a top guy
